Yucca filamentosa
Variegated Adam's Needle is an extremely adaptable evergreen plant,
slowly forming many-headed clumps of lax, green leaves edged with bright
yellow and producing a 1.5m flower spike cascading with creamy-white
bells in late summer. Although usually seen offered for sale as Yucca
filamentosa 'Bright Edge' there is considerable uncertainty as to its
correct name - it could be a cultivar of the closely related species
Yucca flaccida, Yucca smalliana or, most likely Yucca filamentosa ssp
smalliana 'Bright Edge'. But, whatever it is called, it will form a
drought proof patch of bright in the arid garden or a spiky focal point
in the mixed border.
